Is tumblr just an art devouring, inspiration sucking, information vacuum or is it a hyper efficient process for democratically electing iconic images? Both? Stupid question? Don’t care? Discuss?

After talking about it with friends and collaborators and whoever else, I realized that just because John Rafman has captured some amazing images in his 9 eyes of googlemaps series, it doesn’t mean that there is no room left for different approaches to a photography practice that limits itself to using only googlemaps. Although Rafman uses only the 9 eyes I intend to continue utilizing the satellite images as well as the 9 eyes to capture images with a focus on color and texture. In the past I have usually cropped out any of the obvious giveaways of where a screen capture came from. I now intend to explore a wider and less limited range of techniques. Moments might be captured occasionally, but for me the focus is and has always been to simply capture great photographic compositions.

Thanks to everyone who has followed this blog.  As you may have noticed I have not posted anything in a long time. This is partly due to the fact that I was recently able to travel over-seas which I think cured my digital wanderlust to some extent. I will probably still post the occasional image from time to time if I have anything special.
